DID YOU KNOW…
…that our seventh grade banquet of last night was so special. The décor was lovely and the guest speakers, Anna Bernard and Sean Zeringue were outstanding role models for our students. They offered excellent advice for the remainder of this year, and for the years to come in high school.
…that the mission walk-a-thon of last Sunday was not only successful, but great family fun. The weather was beautiful and we had a good turn out. We are accepting pledges and donations for the Holy Childhood Association throughout the month of October.
…that one of our second graders, Joseph Glorioso received the Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award at the 13th Annual Hope for Animals "Dog Day Afternoon." This award is reserved for recipients twelve years or older. The board granted a reprieve from this guideline in order to honor this devoted volunteer. We are so proud of Joseph’s unselfish dedication to this cause. Representatives from Hope for Animals will speak to our Patriots group on October 29th. We are collecting items to donate to this organization at this meeting.
MAKE SPECIAL NOTE:
Boxtops will be mailed on October 30th. Please send in labels so that they might be included in our December check. The September labels winner is Julien Falgoust.
Wednesday, October 28th is a half-day. There is no After Bell on this day, but busses will be running. Please have the names of car riders on a sign. Children who normally go to After Bell are not accustomed to looking for cars.
A Halloween Bazaar meeting for committee chairpersons and room parents will take place tonight at 6:30 PM in the school cafeteria. Plans for the bazaar will be finalized.
Details about the Halloween Bazaar:
Bazaar hours are from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. It is a fun dress day, but Halloween costumes are not allowed.
Set up takes place from 7:15 to 9:15 AM. Lots of help is needed to have everything in place for bazaar time. Volunteers are also needed for clean up.
Parents can donate HOMEMADE TREATS ONLY. Volunteers will be at car line to accept these items.
A grounds/game map and a rainy day map will be posted on Edline for your convenience.
Consent forms for the Saints Experience are due on Monday October 26th. Children cannot participate without having these forms on file with the office.
Decorated pumpkins are due on Monday, October 26th. Pumpkins will be on display in the Family Center. They should be picked up when the bazaar ends, or they will be discarded at the end of the day.
Visitors must sign in at the office and take a visitor sticker.
Students should be signed out in the classroom if parents want to leave early. This does NOT affect perfect attendance.
A bag lunch will be served beginning at 11:30 AM. If students are checked out before dismissal time, they should pick-up their lunch from the cafeteria before they leave school.
Directly after the picture and pumpkin contest winners are announced, they should report to the Family Center for a yearbook picture.
Swap Shop will be set up in the Family Center.
Next week is Red Ribbon Week. Students are encouraged to add a touch of red to their uniforms for the week. They may wear red shirts under their uniforms, red socks, ribbons on shirts, shoe laces, jewelry and bows. Students may not wear hats, spray their hair, or wear nail polish. Please talk to your children about the dangers of substance abuse.
Sunday is Priesthood Sunday. Father Dean will be honored at Friday’s school Mass. Please join us to celebrate our pastor.
Our Book Fair is next week. Daytime hours are from 8:30 to 3:30 PM. A family night is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27th from 4 to 6 PM. This event generates funds for the purchase of books and media materials for our library.
Ground Patti in Thibodaux will sponsor a fund raiser for the Saltillo, Mexico mission on Monday, November 16th and Monday, December 21st from 5 to 9 PM. Ground Patti will donate 15% of net sales. Tickets are available through the church office.
Our Fall Clean Up Day is scheduled for Saturday, November 7th beginning at 7 AM. You may expect a flier with details during the first week of November.
