DID YOU KNOW

…that at last Friday’s school Mass Father Dean shared a story about a pair of worn shoes that really touched our children. Ask them about the little girl from Mexico and her new pair of shoes.

…that Father Dean brought this pair of shoes to school after Friday’s Mass. He wanted every child at that Mass to have a look at those shoes before leaving for the day. After a visit to every classroom, the shoes were placed in the foyer as a reminder of the story. When we were locking up on Friday, the shoes were no longer on the table and we have not been able to locate them. We would appreciate any help in solving this mystery.

… that we need your help in proofing the list of donors for the 2008-2009 school year for our Annual Report. This report names donors from July 2008 to June 2009. We hope to avoid the omission of a donor, or the possibility that any name might be misspelled. Please check the information for grandparents and others who may not have computers. A password is not necessary to access this information. The procedure for accessing this list is as follows:

Go to our website: www.stgenevieveschool.us

Click on Links

Click on Edline

In the "News Section" click on 2009 Annual Fund List

Please pay special attention to the intent of the donation. We want to make sure that any donation made in memory of a deceased loved one, or in honor of a special individual, is published correctly.

Please assist us in this endeavor so that we may publish a list that is as error free as possible. Corrections should be brought to the attention of Chris Knobloch at cknobloch@htdiocese.org. or by calling the school office at 447-9291. The deadline for these corrections is August 31, 2009.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the financial and moral support given by you to our school. Without your help, the programs that enrich the education of our children would not be possible. We are so very grateful.

…that you should have received a letter concerning Edline and our attempt to go "paperless" with this newsletter. We will no longer print copies of the newsletter, calendar and menu for families that have the ability to view this information on Edline.

…that our first early dismissal day was very productive. Car line went smoothly, lasting only 35 minutes. The faculty began the afternoon viewing a DVD on effective teaching, and spent the remainder of the time working in the area of curriculum alignment.

MAKE SPECIAL NOTE:

Jennings Gymnastics has openings in mom-tot, preschool, and boys’ and girls’ beginning classes in cheerleading-tumbling, recreational and team. The classes are taught Monday through Thursday or Saturday mornings. Please call 446-0435 for more information.

We are trying to emphasize to our children the importance of practices that will prevent them from catching or spreading illnesses. Some of the suggestions that we have received include:

· Cough and sneeze into your arm rather than your hand.

· Clean hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub, especially after coughing or sneezing.

· Avoid sharing drinks or food with others.

· Be watchful for warning signs that might indicate that you should stay home from school and seek medical attention.

· Stay home for at least 24 hours after a fever is gone (without the use of fever-reducing medication). A fever is defined as having a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or 37.8 degrees Celsius or greater.

Signs for cars naming riders, particularly on early dismissal days, would help us in getting children to their cars.

The latest that you should arrive for car line pick-up on regular school days is 4:10 PM. On early dismissal days that time is 1:15 PM. Our meetings on these days begin at 1:30 PM.

We are sending home computer information for every family with this newsletter. Please check all information carefully and make any corrections.

We must have custody papers on file for children of divorced parents.
